Additional Flooding in Vermont 4/12/11

Following a winter of incredible amounts of snowfall and a rapid melt combined with heavy rains, the rivers and brooks throughout Vermont are exceeding their banks and flood levels.  Drives down roads like River Road and Goose Pond Road show an entirely new landscape.

A fantastic bakery in Richmond, Vermont, with its temporary moat from an overflowing Winooski River. This did not deter customers who parked on a side road and walked over.

Bridge Street in Richmond, Vermont.  Last night a large tree got lodged under the bridge and caused concerns about pipes and other systems being damaged.

A playground that may have to wait a few days for visitors other than ducks and geese.

The north end of North Williston Road, with the Winooski River flooding it causing its closure for the second day in a row.

Browns River running over Route 128 in Essex, Vermont.  Cars were still able to pass on the side that was more shallow, with a town utility truck blocking the other side.
